The founder of the Cessna Aircraft Corporation in 1927, he is best remembered as an American aircraft designer, with his most famous inventions being the cantilever wing and the V shaped tail. Over the years his many talents were recognized by his induction into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1978.
