Marlene Fay Meakin Cessna, 80, of Greensboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6 in Calhoun County. She was born on Feb. 13, 1936 in Liverpool, England, to John Grainger Meakin and Daisy Cambes. She lived in Greensboro for the past 45 years of her wonderful life. A retired art teacher, she saw beauty in everything and everyone. She never met a stranger. She loved teaching, especially the “Bob Ross” oil painting technique and loved her students. She always believed in giving of her talents so that others could give of themselves.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Oliver Howard “Sarge” Cessna; one sister, Katherine Perdue; and a brother, John Meakin.

Survivors include two sisters, Leslie Sailes and Margaret Kewley; one brother, Leonard Meakin of Great Britain; two daughters, Marlene Plympton (Larry) of Live Oak and Paula Brubaker (Terry) of Mechanicsburg, PA; two sons, Matthew Cessna (Melissa) of Quincy and Paul Cessna (Melissa) of Altha; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. ET at Greensboro United Methodist Church in Greensboro.
