His father was Harry Chavasse (1859-1938), a clerk and auditor, Mother Agnes Lucretia Tivey (1866-1906). His sister and Will executor was Agnes Irene Tivey (Merritt) 1893-1981. Percy spent time as an Indian Army reservist and resided in Naini Jai, Bengal, India. He often spent time with his cousins Amy & William Henry Tivey and his family. William was First Commissioner, Military Works & Services. After his death a commemorative Indian Horse Racing Trophy "The Chavasse Cup" was named after him in his Honour.
