LAURA C CHIARI
Laura C. Chiari, age 93, of Bridgeton died Monday, July 4, 2011 at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township following a lengthily illness.
Born in Fernwood, Pa., on July 19, 1917 to the late Josephine Ottaviani Chiari and Joseph Chiari she had resided in Bridgeton since 1933. Prior to that she had lived in Seabrook and Pennsylvania.
Before her retirement in 1977, she had been employed with the former Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton for 47 years in the Selecting Department on D shift. She was involved in many of the company club activities including bowling, the March of Dimes Dances and the O.I. Federal Credit Union. A member of the Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church, she had served on the Altar and Rosary Society. Laura enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle, casino trips and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are a brother, Joseph Chiari and his wife, Josephine of Bridgeton; a sister, Barbara Marcucci of Eustis, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Shelly Shafer, John Joseph Chiari (Nancy), James Chiari (Michelle), Joann Cervini, Michael Chiari (Linda), Karen Kelli (Tim), Anthony Chiari (Tina) and Maria Reif (Alan) along with several great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, August and John Chiari; a brother-in-law, Anthony Marcucci; and a great-niece, Ashley Chiari.
Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 312 North Pearl St., Bridgeton on Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in LauraÕs memory be made to the Parish of the Holy Cross, 46 Central Ave., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
