Carl Milo Christanson was a private in the US Army during WWII. He was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge and remained in a German prison camp as a POW until liberated when the war ended. Carl earned the Bronze Star for his service.
When Carl returned home, he married the nurse who was caring for his mother. They had 3 sons together, Thomas, Mark and Paul Christianson. Only the eldest son served in the military. Thomas Edward Christianson served in the US Army from 1968 until his 3 year enlistment ended in 1971 with the rank of SPEC 4. Like his father, the majority of his service was spent in Germany (28 months).
