Harriet Beiswenger, 83, formerly of Fisher, died Sunday, November 22, 1998 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, November 25) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Fisher.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Harriet Christianson was born on January 13, 1915 at Crookston, the daughter of Alfred and Marie (Kristensen) Christianson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Crookston's Central High School. Harriet received her teacher's training from the Crookston Normal School and went on to teach for several years at North Lowell Township School and also in a rural school south of Crookston.

On June 4, 1938 Harriet was united in marriage to Walter Beiswenger at Crookston. The couple farmed in Lowell township near Fisher until retiring in 1972. In August of 1973 they moved into Crookston. For ten years the couple enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona. Walter died on June 22, 1996.

While living near Fisher Harriet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and held several offices in the Ladies Aid. After moving to Crookston she was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Homemakers Club and was a volunteer for the Polk County Museum and Meals on Wheels.

She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with family and friends and entertaining them at special gatherings with her "Scandinavian readings."

Harriet is survived by two daughters, Arleen Boyd of Inver Grove Heights and Elaine (Louis) Witt of Wyoming, MI; three sons, Roger (Carol) Beiswenger of Fisher, Allan (Susan) Beiswenger of Soldotna, AK, and James N. Beiswenger of Oslo; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wallace (Beth) Christianson of Corvallis, OR and Lyle (Dorothy Ann) Christianson of Golden Valley; one sister-in-law; two step sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; her parents; one brother, Randolph Christianson; and two stepbrothers, Elroy Johnson and Ted Johnson.
