Obituary

Ethel Clare Brown of Corsicana passed away at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2003, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel with a graveside service for close friends and family at Richland Cemetery.

The Rev. David Mitchell will officiate.

Pallbearers will be David Love, Bruce Love, Zane Stites, Dr. Ed Childs, Bill Bennett, and Gilbert Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Stumbo, Elbert Brister, Worsham Crawford, Dr. David Campbell, Arthur Timaeus, and Jimmy Porter.

She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Lee County, Texas, near Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Rev. James D. and Amanda Catherine Waddle Clare.

Survivors include her husband, William E. Brown of Richland; son, William E. Brown Jr. and wife Shirley of Richland; grandson, William Russell Brown and wife
Ann of Richland; and great-granddaughter, Bethany Ann Brown of Richland.

Ethel is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters and two brothers.

A long-time officer of Corsicana National Bank, she retired as a senior vice presidnet in 1981.

Ethel was an active member of the Kinsloe House for many years, a member of Northside Baptist Church, a member of the Genealogy Society, a member of the Navarro County Historic Society, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3366, and past president of the Athenauem Literary Club.
