Eleanor Alice Clare was born at London England on the 3rd of May 1855. She was the daughter of Job Clare, one of the first to help the Reverend W. Booth in his Whitechapel Mission, which in turn led to the formation of the Salvation Army.
Eleanor married Mark Blow at Portsea in 1879.
Mrs. Blow was a local preacher in the Methodist Church for over 40 years, and a class leader for over 20 years. She was for many years the State Treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary of the Methodist Foreign Missionary Society. She was also on the Committee of the Prisoner's Aid Society and a constant visitor to women prisoners.
"I was in Prison and ye visited me".
Eleanor was for five years the President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union of New South Wales.
