A funeral service for Ruth Bonge, 79, will be at 10 AM Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at the Anderson – Burris Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Arensman officiating, and music by Enid native Curt Johnston and grandson Russell Bonge. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson – Burris funeral home. The casket will be closed at all times.
She was born to Sam and Helen (Smith) Clare on August 5, 1922, in Winnetoon, Nebraska, and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Enid.
Ruth graduated from Winnetoon High School and then attended Van Sant School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska. She was employed at Boy's Town in Omaha and the WOW television station. During World War I I, she worked for the Department of Defense in Washington, D. C. In April 1942, she married Russell Bonge and they moved to Enid in 1960. Ruth worked 10 years respectively at Vance AFB, and then the Social Security Administration, retiring from there. Russell died in November 1973, and she later married Kenneth Houk in 1981. She was a member of Central Christian Church.
Ruth is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Bonge of Enid; two sons, Mike Bonge and his wife Diana, of Houston, and their daughter Lisa Bonge, of Dallas; and Mark Bonge and his wife Carolyn, and their children, Samuel and Russell Bpnge, and Ruth Graham, all of Norman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one sister, Delores Falter.
