Civil War Union Army Officer. He was mustered in as the Quartermaster Sergeant for Battery B, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Light Artillery on September 3, 1861. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on August 29, 1862, and to 1st Lieutenant on September 17, 1863 (muster in date wasnt until April 7, 1864). He served through the end of the war, and was honorably discharged on June 16, 1865.
