PORTLAND - Elinor P. Barker, 79, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
She was born April 19, 1924, in Portland, a daughter of Raymond Joseph and Harriet Francis Reynolds Clark. She graduated from Deering High School in 1942 and attended Northeastern Busness College. Mrs. Barker had worked in the claims department at Blue Cross/Blue Shield retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the National Resource Defense Council, member of Maine Audubon Society and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Barker enjoyed oil painting, especially painting landscapes and still lifes. She also enjoyed candlepin bowling, walking the shoreline collecting sea glass, and spending time with her family and friends.
Her husband, Thomas E. Barker died in 2000.
She was predeceased by a son. Thomas E. Barker, Jr. in 1985.
Burial in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
