Son of Mack and Beulah Clayton. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gertrude Miles Clayton, daughters, Peggy and Jim Rast of Waller, Texas, Beverly and Bill Fluker of Weimar, Texas and son, Larry and Anita Clayton of Colleyville, Texas and by grandchildren: Debbie Nelson, Diana Kendrick, Cheryle and Brent Lapsley, Randy Clayton, Kimberly Clayton, Brandon Clayton, Michelle and Brian Fisher, Vickie and Bryan Saffle, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. A sister, Beulah and husband Dub Brittain of Spring, Texas, survive him. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Clayton. He took much pride in the construction of major buildings in and around the Houston area. He was respected for his ability and craftsmanship in stone masonry. His work can be seen from homes, apartment complexes, hospitals, museums, office buildings, banks, and government buildings. He retired after 50 years with the Bricklayers Union.
