Era Mae “Judy” Clayton Aubuchon, 89 of Tyler, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Tyler. Judy was born on March 26, 1925 near Brownsboro, in the Rock Hill Community. Her parents were Jewell and Bessie Clayton.

Judy started her nursing career at Camp Fannin. She then moved to Baytown to go to nursing school and met her prince, Talmage Aubuchon while he was in her dental chair where she was working.

They were married at Rock Hill, on June 28, 1946. They were married 58 years. They lived in Baytown until 1962 and then moved to Tyler. She nursed at Lillie-Duke Hospital in Baytown for 10 years. After moving to Tyler she nursed 18 years and retired from Glenwood Hospital. She was born to take care of others and spent 89 years doing so.

Judy was a Rebekah member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church for 40 years. She was a member of the Sunshine Prayer group. She went all over East Texas speaking on the stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, after losing the love of her life with Alzheimer’s. She even went to Austin to our Capitol to help with Health Laws for that disease.
Judy loved her family and was the “Sports Queen” of all times, loving her Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks. She loved listening to her son-in-law sing to her for the past nine years.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Talmage Aubuchon in 2004; and a sister Murl Herrington.
Judy leaves behind a daughter Kay Aubuchon Odom and her husband, Patrick Odom of Tyler; a son, Charles Aubuchon of Brownsboro. She leaves three grandchildren, granddaughter, Shawn Phelps and husband, Dr. Robert Phelps; grandson, Shannon E. Smith and his wife, Emily Mahfood Smith and grandson, Shay Aubuchon Smith and his wife, Kristin Smith; six great-grandchildren, Hayley Morgan Phelps, Mallory Shay Powell, Chance Phelps, Jace Phelps, Hayden Smith and Caroline Smith all of Tyler and Kennan Jack Smith of League City; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kinlee Powell of Tyler. She also leaves behind two brothers, James Clayton and his wife, Emma of Tyler and Archie Lee Clayton and his wife Peggy of Brownsboro and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be; grandsons, Shannon Smith, Shay Smith, Dr. Robert Phelps; nephews, Mike Clayton, Newman Herrington and Kenney Baker. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Hayden Smith, Chance Phelps and Jace Phelps.

A celebration of Judy Aubuchon’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Green officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rock Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
