Bethel Clayton Adair Helms passed away on February 7, 2007, at Windcrest Nursing Facility in Fredericksburg. She was born December 7, 1920, to John Will and Lola Kidd Clayton in Henderson County. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, having joined in 1929 when she was 9 years of age. She was baptized on August 26, 1921, at the Pine Hill Methodist Episcopal Church South by the Rev. J.R. Ritchie, Henderson County, Texas.

She married J.P. Adair on July 29, 1938, in Chandler and he preceded her in death. She married Alan F. Helms on October 25, 1991, in Chandler. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bolin Clayton and Horace Clayton, and by three sisters, Bessie Featherston, Ruby Featherston and Maggie Eberhart. She is survived by a sister, Ada Holland.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served as president of the United Methodist Women of the Bryan District, was an active member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, worked at Methodist camps, taught kindergarten, and was a caregiver to whomever was in need.

She will be missed by her husband, Alan, and three children and spouses, Roy and Barbara Crenwelge, Don and Connie Adair, Dwight and Sandra Adair, her four grandchildren, Marshall Adair, Holly Adair, Allyson George, Jennifer Sudduth and her three great-grandchildren, Carlee George, Emma George and Daniel Sudduth.

Her funeral was held on February 13, 2007 at the Leagueville Cemetery, Leagueville. Memorials may be made to the Chandler United Methodist Church, Chandler.
