Adeline Basilea Clinch, daughter of Jacob D. Clinch, married (1) Timothy Dwight Crane; (2) _____ Ackerman.

Marriage. Last evening, by Rev. Charles H. Ewing of Annapolis, MD, to T. Dwight Crane to Adeline B., only daughter of the late Jacob D. Clinch of this City. (New York Tribute, 20 Jan. 1848)

Seek further information concerning Adeline's parents.

In the 1855 Census, 2nd Election District, 15th Ward of Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY, living with T. Dwight and Adeline B. (Clinch) Crane and their family were Benjamin S. and Sarah Lamb. His surname was listed as "Lam" and hers as "Lane." We believe Sarah was Sarah Garrick who first married to Joseph Harmer and that Sarah was the grandmother of Adeline B. Crane. We suspect that Sarah raised Adeline. If Sarah performed the role of mother to Adeline, that would account for the fact that Adeline's husband, Timothy Dwight Crane, was called son-in-law in Benjamin's obituary.
