Maude E. (Clinch) Barber, 84, a resident of Traditions of Hershey, formerly of Hershey and York, passed away Saturday, November 07, 2009 in her home with her family by her side.

She was born July 19, 1925 in Wilmington, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Guy and Ethel (Journeay) Clinch.

Maude attended the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, Massachusetts. She was an accomplished vocalist, organist, and pianist.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and time spent with family.

Maude was a secretary for the Penn State University York Campus.

She was a member of the Hershey First United Methodist Church and their Adult Choir.

Maude was a former member of the United Methodist Church Adult Choir and Director of their Cherub Choir, Babylon, New York.

She was a volunteer with the Welcome Wagon of York and a performer with the Harrisburg Community Theater.

Maude volunteered as a Nursing Aide for the Good Samaritan Hospital, Babylon, New York, a Pre-School Teachers Aide in Palmyra, a volunteer for the Derry Township Primary School, and the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years: Howard A. Barber; her three daughters: Diane L. McElwain & husband, Robert of York, Janice L. Fowlston & husband, Thomas of Hershey and Lori A. Thomae & husband David of Westford, Massachusetts; her nine grandchildren: her five great-grandchildren; and, her brother: Edward Clinch of Bloomington, Indiana.

Services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Hershey. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
