Dorothy Marie Aspden, of Lochbuie, Colorado, died, Saturday, August 15, 2009 at
Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge. She was 76 years of age. She was born, Dorothy
Marie Clinton, on May 25, 1933 in Alliance, Nebraska to parents Everett Clare
Clinton and Lillie May (Simpson) Clinton. She graduated from Hay Springs High
School in Hay Springs, Nebraska. At the age of ten she met Richard Lee Aspden,
and said she knew right away he was the man she would marry. That became a
reality on April 15, 1951. In October of that year, the couple moved from
Nebraska to Glenrock, Wyoming, where their four children were born. The family
moved to Thornton, Colorado in June of 1966.

Dorothy attended Parks School of Business training as a keypunch operator and
stayed on as an instructor for several years. She worked in keypunch and later
data entry in the banking industry until she retired in the early 1990's.
Dorothy and Richard moved to Lochbuie in December of 1995. She later worked
through the Senior's Inc. program for the City of Ft. Lupton Recreation
Department for a short time.

Her children remember her tireless dedication to family. For many years she
worked swing shift jobs so she could watch her grandchildren during the day
while their parents worked. She always ensured that each of her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren had what they needed and never lacked for
hugs and kisses. They have crocheted blankets, doilies, dolls, and toys as
keepsakes to remember her by. She sewed wedding dresses, prom dresses, party
dresses, and play clothes. She patched-up skinned knees, mended broken-hearts,
and attended countless numbers of sporting events, band concerts, and school
plays. She loved working outdoors and found great joy in sharing the bounty of
her garden with friends and family.

Dorothy is survived by her four children Roxie Schroeder (Paul) of Thornton;
Monte Aspden (Brenda) of Littleton; Shelley Hollis (Jim) of Northglenn, and
Vicki Smith (Ron) of Lochbuie. She was blessed with fifteen grandchildren Devin
Schroeder, Jennifer Schroeder, Christopher Kominski, Jessica Nagy, Meghan
Aspden, Kathrine Quintana, Amanda Smith, Richard Smith, Laura Hollis, Karen
Cundiff, Sarah O'Patik, David Hollis, John Hollis, Janessa Hollis, and Julia
Hollis. Dorothy and Richard's legacy is carried on by eleven great-grandchildren
and counting. She is also survived by two brothers Everett Lee Clinton of
Oregon, Larry Eugene Clinton of Montana, and a sister Ardis Wright of Kremmling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1999 after 48-years of
marriage; an infant granddaughter, Sandra Molloy; her parents; and two brothers.
