MRS. VIRGINIA JEMISON COBB, 89, of Birmingham, died Monday. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was a charter member of the Birmingham Junior League. A founding member of the Southside Neighborhood Association, she was instrumental in the revitalization of the Southside community and the downtown area. In 1982, Cobb Lane was dedicated in her honor. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood, Johns-Ridout’s Southside directing. Survivors include her son, Henry Hammond Cobb Jr., Birmingham. The family suggests memorials be made to the church or favorite charity.
