Mrs. Brooks passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Grace Home after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Saturday, December 6, at Osborn Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6 at Old Town Cemetery, Haynesville, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Joey Kitchum of Western Hills Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brooks was a native of Haynesville, LA, born on August 1, 1924 and a resident of Shreveport for 70 years. She was a member of the Western Hills Baptist Church. She retired from the Caddo Public Schools where she taught first grade for more than 30 years, having taught at Claiborne and Hillsdale Elementary Schools.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, W. F. “Bill” Brooks; parents, W. S. Coleman and Ozelle T. Coleman; and brothers, Harmon and Douglas Coleman. She is survived by her daughter, Esther Hazel Vickery and husband, Charles Vickery, Sr.; two grandchildren, Charles R. Vickery, Jr. and wife, Jessica and William N. Vickery and wife, Carie; four great-grandchildren, Cy Vickery, Coen Vickery, Jadelyn Vickery and Rives McIntyre; sister-in-law, Janet M. Coleman; nieces, Suzy Bullock and Dr. Bob Bullock and Carita Lindemann and Rev. David Lindemann; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will be Charles R. Vickery, Sr., Charles R. Vickery, Jr., William N. Vickery, Cory E. Brownlee, Jason Jordan and Craig Jordan.
