Mrs. Brown was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church. She met her husband while he was stationed in England during WWII. They were married on March 3, 1945 at the Parish Church in Belgrave, England. She arrived in New York City on July 12, 1946 with other brides from England. She joined other local British ladies in an English Club through which they shared news from families and friends back home.
She was survived by her husband of 60 years, Kent Brown of Monroe; her son, Kenny Brown and wife Jane of Monroe; her daughter, Debbie Ryder and husband Robert of West Monroe; two brothers, Ronnie and Mickey Colman, both of England; one sister, Doll Leader of England; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
