Alice Collin was married to Andrew Leithead on New Year's Eve 1836 at the church of St Peter, Monkwearmouth. The couple had one son and another on the way when Andrew Leithead died of consumption in 1839. The widowed Alice married again in 1846 and became Mrs Robert Archer, raising her two sons from her first marriage and several children by Robert Archer.
She outlived her second husband by 8 years, dying at Southwick on 2 March 1883. Like her husband before her, she was laid to rest at Southwick.
