Ms. Kathy Gail Brounce, age 54, known affectionately as "Mama" by family and friends, of New Castle, DE, died on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.
Born in Tazewell, VA on June 5, 1953, Ms. Brounce was the daughter of the late John K. Collins, Sr. and Frances O. Kitts Collins. She had been employed as a human resources supervisor with D & T Heating and Cooling in Newark for the past 2 years. Previously, she worked for Bayshore Transportation in Newark for 8 years. In her leisure time, Ms. Brounce greatly enjoyed camping, gardening, and fishing. She especially delighted in spending time with and caring for her many friends and animals.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa F. Brounce of Newark, DE; her son, G. Dustin Brounce and his girlfriend, Ashlie F. Winder, of Newark, DE; her brother, John K. Collins, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Bear, DE; her dearest friends, Kellie A. June of Newark, DE; and Joannie T. Cortina of Gilbert, AZ; and many extended family members and friends.
Friends may call 6-8 pm, on Wednesday, May 7, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 8, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cecil County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 3280 Augustine Herman Hwy., PO Box 665, Chesapeake City, MD 21915 (410-398-9555).
