Jadell Collins Anderson
(January 4, 1918 - October 10, 2013)

Jadell C. Anderson, age 95, passed from this life on Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Abilene, Texas. A family visitation will be held Friday, October 11 from 6:00 to 7:30 at Piersall Funeral Directors at 733 Butternut. A second visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ft. Payne, Alabama from 1:30 to 3:00. Funeral services will immediately follow at the Wilson Funeral Home at 3:00 with burial following at the Glenwood Cemetery in Ft. Payne.

Jadell was born January 4, 1918 in a small community in northeast Alabama to parents Arthur and Etta Collins. She attended Crossville High School where she met her love, James Eugene Anderson. They were married at the young ages of 17 and 18 and celebrated 59 years of a wonderful marriage. They lived most of those years in Ft. Payne, Alabama where her greatest roles were being a loving and committed wife, mother, friend and dedicated Christian. She had a vivacious personality and will be remembered as a beautiful and gracious Southern lady. She was an active member of the Ft. Payne Church of Christ where her husband served as an elder for many years while she was teaching cradle roll classes.

Six years after her husband's death, at the age of 82, she moved to Abilene, Texas in 2000. She made countless friends at her new church home, Hillcrest Church of Christ and was blessed by them as well. During these 13 years, she made many trips back to Alabama to visit family and friends.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Wilson and husband Jack of Abilene and Julia Mays and husband Coker of Opelika, Alabama. Grandchildren include Alan Wilson and Catherine Meyer of Abilene, David Mays and wife Maria of Antioch, Tennessee and Beth Woodrow and husband Seth of McDonough, Georgia. Great grandchildren include Clay Meyer and Ryleigh and Reagan Woodrow. She was preceded in death by her husband James Eugene Anderson, her parents Arthur and Etta Collins, infant sister Jessie Pauline Collins and infant grandson James Dennis Mays.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hendrick Hospice and Mary Beth Slaughter who lovingly cared for Jadell during her last weeks. Memorial contributions can be made to Hendrick Hospice or to a favorite charity. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
