Ethel May Charles, 98 of 310 N. Cherry St., Eaton, OH; died Thursday morning, Nov, 16 at Governor Harris Homestead in Eaton after an extended illness. Born on May 23, 1891 near Webster, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan Worth and Elizabeth Werts Coltrane. She had resided in the Eaton area since 1948 and had been a resident of Governor Harris Homestead since October 1983. She graduated from Webster High School in 1910 and was a member of the Fountain City Friends Meeting. Preceded in death her husband, Nathan Charles, in September 1961; a sister, Cora Atkinson; and brothers, Verne and Roy Coltrane.

Survivors include twin daughters and their husbands, Ruby L and Robert E. Buriff and Reba M. and Arthur B. Shaw, all of Eaton; two granddaughters and their husband, Sharon J. and Robert C. Barnes of Eaton and Nedra S. and Karl V. Mielke of St. Mary's, OH; four great grandsons and their wives, Brian R. and Erin M. Barnes, Lewisburg; Karl Douglas and Nancy A. Mielke, Perrsburg, OH; Stephen A. Barnes, Eaton and Steven P. Mielke of Columbus, OH; one great-great grandson Matthew B. Barnes, Lewisburg, OH two nieces and one nephew; and several cousins.

Funeral services were Sunday, Nov.19 at the convenience of the family, with Dr. Phillip D. Malone and Rev. Todd Thompson officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home - Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
