Ruth Coltrane Cannon was very active in the preservation of the heritage of Concord and Cabarrus, N.C. Using her family resources she was able to produce the book, "Cabarrus County in the Wars," a listing of all men and women who had served in the armed services from the Revolutionary War through World War II. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Daughters of Confederate Veterans. On every Confederate Memorial Day she organized a city wide observance at the Confederate monument in front of the Courthouse in Concord.
