Wife of William Allred III
Rachel'S father's last name was Coltrane. The story is told that he was found in a basket, floating off the shores of Scotland. When he was found, the weather was cold and rainy, that is why he was given his last name as Coldrain
Mrs. Rachel Allred, widow of William Allred, died at Nathan Hammond's, near Dora, Wabash county. Tuesday, Feb 6th. She was as peacefully taken away as though asleep. For quite a number of years she said she was ready to die whenever her Master called her; but when she was younger, said that if it pleased God she would be glad to see her children all raised, and all married, and all doing well, and her hope was realized. She was the mother of nine children, the youngest one being forty-five years and six months old when the mother died. She was a member of the Orthodox Friends Society, and had been for a number of years. She was a kind wife, mother, and neighbor, always ready to administer to the wants of the sick and afflicted. Three of her children are left in this State to mourn her loss, and two in North Carolina. Her husband died July 30th, 1886, he being 87 years, nine months and eighteen days old, and she was 84 years and seven days old when her death occurred. Her funeral was preached by Rev. J. I. McCoy at Mt. Hope, Wabash county, at 10 o'clock. Thursday, the interment being made in Mt. Etna.
