Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Condit died approximately six weeks before his 62nd birthday. He was in his 50's at the time of his military service, and spent 8 of the last 10 years of his life fighting for American independence. Born to one of the earliest settlers of Orange, NJ, Samuel Conduit/Condit, and his first wife, the former Mary Dod/Dodd, he served as a church deacon and farmed on his homestead in the Pleasantdale section of present day West Orange. His survivors included his wife, the former Ruth Harrison, and their sons Amos and the Rev. Ira Condict. He was preceased six years earlier by his daughter Jemima, known for the diary she kept from 1772 to 1779.
