FERNE AIKEN


Ferne B. Aiken, age 59 of 910 South 21st Street, died at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She had been hospitalized since June 1. Born on May 15, 1928 in Winamac, Indiana, she was reared there and came to Lafayette in 1947. Her marriage was to Lester Lee Aiken. He is retired from Alcoa.


Mrs. Aiken was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, Morning Circle of the Church; and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority. She attended Southside Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her husband and three sisters: Julia Downing of Peru, Indiana; Mrs. Earl (Ethel)Ward of Marion, Indiana and Lois Ruff of Lafayette, Indiana; and five brothers: Robert Conner of Ellington, Florida; Alvin Conner of Sebring, Florida; Oliver Conner of Peru, Indiana; and Arthur Conner and Harold Conner, both of Lafayette, Indiana.
