Grace Stella (Conner) Bowman
Grace Stella (Conner) Bowman, 97, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Todd-Aikens Health Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born March 26, 1906, in Johnson County. Her parents were William Aaron and Minnie Mae (Smith) Conner. She married Ollie Ebel Bowman on May 6, 1926, in Johnson County. He preceded her in death May 21, 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Alice Roberts of Franklin; two grandsons, James Brian Roberts and Brent Lee Roberts, both of Franklin; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Bowman; two brothers, Granvel and Claudie Conner; four sisters, Daisy Conner, Emma Fordyce, Florence Patterson and Ethel Mitchell; and a granddaughter, Lori Lynn Roberts.
She attended Hopewell schools.
She was employed as a housekeeper for several families for 43 years. She was also employed by Bank One in custodial work for six years and by Varynit Mills as a seamstress for 28 years.
She was a longtime member of Faith Evangelical Methodist Church, now known as Franklin Trinity Lighthouse Church.
She enjoyed tatting, quilting, crocheting and gardening.
The Rev. Norman Palmer will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Friday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home, 197 E. Jefferson St. in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
