Mildred D. Connor, 88, of Brentwood, Tenn., died Sunday following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, John M. Connor Sr.

Born Sept. 26, 1922, in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late William and Alma (Crouse) .

Midge was a 1940 graduate from Hazleton High School, Hazleton, and began her working career with PP&L.

She was a resident of Attleboro Falls, Mass., from 1954 to 2006 and had since resided with her daughter in Brentwood, Tenn.

Midge was employed by North Attleboro High School for over 25 years as administrative assistant to Principals Leon Regan, Frank Gifune, Lou Kelley and Wilson Whitty. It has been observed that she "trained them and their assistants very well." She also performed several duties for the superintendent's office and the school board.

Midge was parish secretary and played an instrumental role in the creation of St. Mark's Parish in Attleboro Falls, Mass. She was an officer with the North Attleboro Retired Secretaries Association. She and her husband were members of Highland Country Club in Attleboro for many years. In Brentwood, she was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Bishop, Brentwood, Tenn.; two sons, John M. Connor Jr., Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; and Dennis P. Connor Sr., Massachusetts; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Martha DeJoseph, Marion Whitfield and Alma Yale, all of Pennsylvania; and the late Harry, William and John Robert Dorneman, Katherine Onder, Gladys Trella and Dorothy Diefenderfer; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road, Brentwood, TN 37027. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass., at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the Funeral Mass.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Angela, Pat, Emily and Kari with Avalon Hospice, for their professionalism and compassion.
