Cooke of Blue Ridge, Georgia; parents, John W. and Marianna Mitchell Cooke of Cumming, Georgia; brother, Thomas Cooke of Alpharetta, Georgia; and his two sisters, Catherine Polkinghorne of Riverside, CT and Kaye Olexa of Gainesville, Georgia.
His family ties to Macon are long: his mother Marianna Mitchell Cooke graduated from Miller High School, his grandfather Donald Mitchell was editor of the Macon Telegraph, his grandmother was a music professor in piano at Wesleyan College, his great grandfather Father Reece was Father at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Bill's parents, John and Marianna Cooke, were married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
