NORCROSS, GA - Major John William Cooke, IV. Retired US Army of Norcross GA, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11A.M. Friday, April 15, 2011 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Hal Weidman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in the name of John William "Bill" Cooke to the Wounded Warriors Fund.

Mr. Cooke is survived by his wife of 8 years, Mary Margaret Cooke; children, Patrick W. and Alexis A. Cooke of Blue Ridge, Georgia; parents, John W. and Marianna Mitchell Cooke of Cumming, Georgia; brother, Thomas Cooke of Alpharetta, Georgia; and his two sisters, Catherine Polkinghorne of Riverside, CT and Kaye Olexa of Gainesville, Georgia.

His family ties to Macon are long: his mother Marianna Mitchell Cooke graduated from Miller High School, his grandfather Donald Mitchell was editor of the Macon Telegraph, his grandmother was a music professor in piano at Wesleyan College, his great grandfather Father Reece was Father at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Bill's parents, John and Marianna Cooke, were married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
