John William Cooke Jr, 53, of Macon, died Tuesday April 12, 2011. Funeral services 11 am Fri, April 15, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, w Rev. Hal Weidman officiating. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery. The family may be contracted at the residence of Lisa Sloben. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in the name of John William "Bill" Cooke to your favorite museum. Mr. Cooke is survived by his fiancee, Lisa Sloben of Macon, children, Patrick & Alexis Cooke of Blue Ridge GA, parents John & Marianna Cooke of Cumming GA, brother, Thomas Cooke of Alpharetta GA, and two sisters, Catherine Polkinghorne of Riverside CT and Kaye Olexa of Gainesville GA. Bill graduated from N.GA College with a bachelor's degree & received his masters degree from Georgetown Univ. He proudly served in the US Army for 21 years and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served in the 13th Cavalry and graduated from Ranger Cavalry and graduated from the Combined Armed Services Staff college. His distinguished service included 15 Meritorious Service Medals and the Legion of Merit and he served in Desert Storm. After retiring from the Army in2000, he was Operations Manager for Frito Lay and then went on to Kinetic Concepts as district service manager, where he was awarded the Manager of the Year in 2009. He was deeply loved, cared for and appreciated by his fiancee, Lisa Sloben, her children and her family. Hart's Mortuary, Cherry St. has charge of arrangements.
