Christine Smith Patton Cook
Macon, GA- Christine Smith Patton Cook, 87, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 in her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Christ with the Rev. Julie Long and the Rev. Jody Long officiating. Burial will be private for the family in Riverside Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Monday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. They ask that those who wish, please make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon 31201.
Mrs. Cook, daughter of the late Jessie Ward Hamlin and Ethel Lee Combs Hamlin, was preceded in death by her husbands, M. Douglas Smith, Dr. Samuel E. Patton and Paul Marvin Cook. She was born in Miami, FL and had lived in Macon most of her life, graduating from Miller High School, Class of '43. Mrs. Cook trained as a Lab Technician at the Macon Hospital. Following her retirement, she devoted her time to family, home and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Christ where she was active in the life of her church. Mrs. Cook was an avid Bridge player and played with several Bridge groups. She was also a member of the Macon Exchangettes, the Vineville Garden Club and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Christina Pepper of Wrightsville; her granddaughter, Kimberly Lynn (Richard) Mertens of Wrightsville; her great grandson, Matthew Douglas Mertens of Wrightsville; her brother, Jessie "Buddy" (Mildred) Hamlin of Macon and three nieces.
