He was born in Springfield on Dec. 24, 1919, the son of Arthur and Julia Sparrow Cook. He married Lois Young in 1943. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Velma Mead; and one brother, James B. Cook.
Mr. Cook was a member of Kumler United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a machinist for Fiatallis, retiring in 1980 after 33 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; two daughters, Kathleen Mogle of Springfield and Marilyn L. Anders of Tallula; one son, Arthur James Cook of Springfield; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one brother, Charles O. Pumphrey of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
