GEORGE ALVIN COOK, JR Sept. 24, 1920 – March 27, 2014 George Cook passed away at the age of 93. Born in El Paso, Texas, he traveled by ship with his parents to Hawaii in 1922, attended Lincoln School and graduated from Roosevelt in 1938. At First Federal Savings and Loan, he began work as a loan officer and rose to become the President. He retired in 1982, and continued as Chairman of the Executive Committee until 1986. George married Emma (Bunnie), now deceased, on April 11, 1947. He was a wonderful father to his children: sons George (Buzz) Cook lll (deceased) and Charlie R.Cook, daughter Janice E. DuBois, and son in law Ron C. DuBois. George loved the ocean, and paddled for The Outrigger, where he remained a member for 71 years. He shared this love with his family through snorkeling, boating, and scuba diving. George and Bunnie enjoyed traveling the world collecting shells. George was kind and gracious in nature and ever thankful for his rich life in Hawaii. He bestowed special gifts on all of the lives he touched. Celebration of life, Central Union Church, Atherton Chapel, April 24, 2014, at 1:00 PM. Leis welcome and will be used at the burials both at sea and at Valley of the Temples.
