Funeral services for Hazel Abbott, 96, of Colona, IL, will be 2:00 pm Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mrs. Abbott died Monday, June 15, 2015, at UnityPoint, Rock Island. Hazel Cook was born October 18, 1918, in East Prairie, MO, the daughter of George and Lena Dickerson Cook. She married Paul Abbott July 3, 1939, in Davenport, IA. She worked at Servus Rubber, Rock Island, retiring in 1981, after 25 years of service. She had been a member First Church of the Nazarene. Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was adored by her family. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Danny) Karr, Colona, Linda Abbott, East Moline, and Joyce Garren, Moline; 14, grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Smith, Bellevue, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Eddie and Jim Abbott; grandson, AJ Abbott; great grandsons, Cody Means and Kamren Winters; 9 siblings; son in law, Larry Garren, who died April 18, 2015. Memorials may be made to the family.
