Virgie Altland, 71, went home to be with her Lord at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at her home.

She was born January 16, 1935, in York, a daughter of the late Raymond Cook and Hazel (Troup) Cook Kraft. Virgie was a homemaker who always cherished the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was an avid reader and always enjoyed talking to her family and friends on the telephone.

She is survived by a son, Cleason Altland, Jr. of Manchester; three daughters, Virginia Hollerbush, Julie Altland, and Mary Delp, all of Dover; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Cook of Dover; and two sisters, Mary Brown of York and Marie Stoll of Dover.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 2 p.m. and the viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover.

Burial will follow in Rohlers Mountainview Cemetery.

Officiating will be the Rev. Edward Rowand, pastor of Rohlers Assembly of God, Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.
