"Mrs Dimmie Allen, aged 68, for many years a resident of Britton Run, died at 4:30 pm on February 17 from pneumonia at the home of her daughter, Mrs Clifford Richardson in Union City. She leaves three other children, Mrs Hanson C Hall of Atlanta, Ga, Mrs Harry B Carlson of Union City and William H Allen of Britton Run. There are seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Ion Rose of Union City and Mrs Eva Golden of Spartansburg, and two brothers, Will and John Cook of Britton Run. There are several nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Leon Allen who died in 1937. Funeral services in her memory were conducted from the Torrey funeral home in Spartansburg at 2 pm on February 19. Rev Arnold Lundberg of the Methodist church officiated and interment was in the Riceville cemetery. The following grandsons were pall-bearers: William H Allen Jr, Donald Allen, Charles Richardson and Klahr Skiff, together with Allen and William Cook Jr, nephews."
