"Local Author Dies at Age 62 - Mrs. Zoda E. Anderson, 62, of Colbert Avenue, well known writer, and former employee of The Derrick Publishing Company, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday in the Oil City Hospital following a long illness. Long associated with books of prose and poetry used on numerous radio programs by leading artists of the nation, Mrs. Anderson received wide acclaim upon the publication of her first full-length novel, 'Stoney Batter,' depicting the struggles of the 18th century Pennsylvania Dutch. At the time of her death she was engaged in the writing of a second novel. Her short articles have appeared in the Galleon Press Anthology of Poems their short story Anthology and Poets on Parade. For her efforts, she had been given many high honors, among which was membership in the Biographical Dictionary of Contemporary Poets and Western Pennsylvania Poets Anthology. She has appeared in 'Who's Who in the East,' for the past ten consecutive years. Although confined to her bed by illness the greater part of recent years, Mrs. Anderson found time to arrange the daily Radio Chapel program over station WKRZ. A daughter of the late John Wesley and Elizabeth Jane Fox, she was born January 8, 1891, in Tippery. She lived most of her life in Oil City and in 1918 (sic) [1913] was married to Elwin Anderson who died in 1941 (sic) [1942]. During the early 1920's she was employed by The Derrick Publishing Company. Mrs. Anderson attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Surviving are a son, Robert of Oil City; a sister, Mrs. Frances Heath of Oil City; a niece and a nephew. The body was taken to the Crawford Funeral Home."
