Mrs. Carole C. Beal, of Lansing Place, 90, widow of Rev. Irving F. Beal, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since October, 2006.

Carole was born on November 16, 1922, in Paterson, N.J., a daughter of John Raymond and Helen Norwood Cooke. She graduated from College High School of Montclair, N.J. with the class of 1940, and then she graduated in 1944 from the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing of New York City, with a bachelors degree in Nursing.

Carole was united in marriage with Reverend Irving Flint Beal on June 7, 1945, in Washington, D.C. In 1949 Rev. Beal graduated from Union Seminary of New York City, and afterwards the couple moved to Cuba, NY., where Rev. Beal was pastor of the Cuba Presbyterian Church. In 1955, they moved to Boonville, where Rev. Beal was pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Boonville, Forestport Presbyterian Church and at the Reformed Church of West Leyden. They were residents here until 1968. At that time the couple moved to Leicester, NY., returning to Boonville in 1980, where Carole has since lived. Rev. Beal died on December 18, 1999.

From 1980 until her retirement in 1993, Mrs. Beal was employed as a Registered Nurse at Lewis Co. Extended Care Facility in Lowville. Mrs. Beal was a dedicated registered nurse who greatly cared for each and every patient under her care. In 1991, she was selected by the New York State Legislature to receive the Nurse of Distinction Award given by the legistature.

Mrs. Beal was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Boonville, and had served as a church Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir, a member of the church In His Name Missionary Society, and the church Painters Society. She also was a member of the Boonville Historical Club, and had served as a volunteer for the Blood Mobile, and at Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center of Boonville.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Barry (Belinda) Beal Packard, Rockford, Ill., Deborah Beal Baker, Rolling Meadows, Ill., four grandchildren; twins, Jonathan and Curtis Packard, Carolyn Packard, and Patricia Baker, two great grandchildren, Abigail and Emilie Packard, and one sister, Mary Cooke, Chiangmai, Boonville. She was predecased by one brother, John Cooke, Jr., and by one sister, Helen Sobelman.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Sunset Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, James St. Boonville, where Rev. Barrett Lee, pastor will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 5-7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
