CANFIELD.--Mrs. Sara R. Canfield, wife of the Rev. J. T. Canfield, Presiding Elder of Corning District, Genesee Conference, died at Corning, New York, March 7. The funeral was attended on the 9th inst. A large number of the pastors of the district were present and the Official Board of the Methodist Episcopal church in Corning attended in a body. The remains were interred in the beautiful cemetery at Tyrone, New York, by the side of those of her only son, Ernest, who passed on before thirteen years ago. A brother minister, sending this announcement, adds: "Brother Canfield has the sympathy and prayers of his brethren in this hour, which, though one of trial, is not one of doubt and darkness. The experiences of Mrs. Canfield in her last days and those of her husband in these hours of affliction give emphasis to the words of the apostle, "Thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
