Alan Elwood Coon entered into rest on October 27, 2005 surrounded by his family at his home in Sacramento, he was 86 years of age. Born on March 25, 1919 in Eureka to Frank and Mable Coon, Alan spent many years in Eureka and Salinas before relocating Sacramento where he lived for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army 7th Division (Fort Ord, CA) from 1941 to 1945 and was a WWII Veteran honored with the Asiatic Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. Missing him greatly are his children; sons, Alan L. Coon, James Raymond Coon and wife Mary Jane, and Robert E. Coon and wife Stacy; daughters, JoAnne Duncan, Judy Luna and husband Tom, and Joyce Bowers and husband Mike; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. A Private Service will be held for family and close friends at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sutter Health Foundation Hospice Program, 2800 L Street
