"Sarah Ann Cooper, widow of Richard Cooley, died at her home, corner of Broad and Lake streets, Morris, Sunday, August 10th, at 11 o'clock, at the advanced age of eighty-seven years. She had been failing during the past year, but her death was caused by pneumonia after an illness of eight days. Mrs. Cooley was one of our oldest residents not only in years but in length of residence. Her ancestors were among the original Coopers of Cooperstown. She married Richard Cooley about sixty-five years ago. They lived in Laurens a few years and then moved to Morris about 1865 where Mr. Cooley conducted the jewelry business for nearly fifty years. He died in October, 1907. Two children were born to them, Mrs. James Folts of Morris with whom the mother lived, and George W. Cooley of Sidney. There are also three grandchildren, Richard and Lee Folts of Geneseo and Henry Cooley of Sidney, and one greatgrandson, George W. Cooley 2d. Mrs. Cooley leaves three sisters, one living in Utica and two in the West. The funeral was at the home, Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. E. E. Hutchinson of Zion church, of which the deceased had been a member many years, officiating." ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY), Aug. 15, 1919, p. 7]
