"Mrs. Roxaline Waffle Cooper, widow of the late Van Ness P. Cooper, died Wednesday morning at Mary Imogene Bassett hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Cooper was born at Sprout Brook, Montgomery county, May 29, 1845, the daughter of Cyphrenus and Elizabeth Barrager Waffle, and was united in marriage with Mr. Cooper June 1, 1869, since which time this village has been her home. The funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of Undertaker John W. Brown on Pioneer street. The Rev. E. Bohne-Echolt of the Methodist Episcopal church officiated and interment was made in Lakewood. Mrs. Cooper was well known and was numbered among the older residents of Cooperstown. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Phoebe Bush, of Amsterdam, and several nephews and nieces." ["The Freeman's Journal" (Cooperstown, NY), June 18, 1924, Page 9]
