"Attended by circumstances of unusual sadness, occurred the death of Mrs. Arthur Cooper at her home on Delaware street last Wednesday morning, after only a few hours illness. Always in delicate health, the strain attendant upon Mrs. Cooper in caring for her little daughter, who was ill with scarlet fever, brought about a nervous collapse, and death came peacefully. Helen Frances Cooper was of Scotch ancestry and was born in Middlefield Centre, January 1, 1867, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Burke McDonald. Her early life was spent in that community until her marriage in October, 1888, since which time she has resided in Cooperstown. Mrs. Cooper was a woman of many sterling qualities. She was a member of the W. C. T. U., and of the Presbyterian church and at all times was a most willing worker. Surviving Mrs. Cooper are her husband, a son, C. Warren, and a daughter, Grace; her mother, Mrs. Thomas McDonald, one sister, Mrs. Henry Garlow, and two brothers Edward and Dr. William H. McDonald, all of Cooperstown. The funeral was held from her mother's residence, 15 Delaware street, Friday, at 2 o'clock, Rev. E. C. Petrie officiating, with interment in Lakewood cemetery."
