Dawn A. Cooper Austin, 74, passed immediately into glory on July 13, 2012 in the Cortland Park Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 30, 1937 in Cortland, NY the daughter of the late Harry and Bernice Reynolds Cooper. Dawn graduated from Homer High School class of 1954. She married Francis O. Austin on November 27, 1958.
She raised her four children, worked as the catalog clerk and secretary at JC Penney for 18 years, and retired from Monarch Tools in 2000.
Dawn enjoyed dancing, reading and long walks, however her greatest enjoyment was the love of her family.
Surviving are her four children, Susie (Mick) Leary of Homer; Barbara (Jack) Dafoe of Homer; Daniel (Mary Beth) Austin of Homer and Jeffrey (Stacey) Austin of Truxton; 11 loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is her twin brother, Donald (Linda) Cooper and her brother, Lauren 'Lum' (Heidi) Cooper, both of Cortland.
In addition to her parents, Dawn was predeceased by her husband, Francis O. Austin in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer. Dawn will be laid to rest next to her beloved Francis in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
