Jennie Costello was born January 25, 1920 in St. Louis Missouri as the 12th of 13 children and passed away January 17, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Jennie was a loving wife, sister, mother, grand- mother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by her 5 children, Gerri Scharff, Pat Grayson- DeJong, Judi Costello, Tom Costello, and John Costello, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her life was devoted to her family.
Jennie worked a myriad of jobs including working during World War II at Douglas Aircraft and worked as a florist before spending over 20 years working for General Telephone and Electric Company (GTE). She was an avid bowler, crossword puzzle queen and was a voracious reader. Jennie was also known for creating beautiful afghans for her entire family.
In her retirement she devoted numerous hours to volunteering with the Intercommunity Women's Auxiliary. Jennie had a sincere love for the town she spent her life in, Covina.
She loved baking and was given the nickname, "Grandma Cookie" by her grandchildren. She was known for singing to all of her family and even wrote her own song which was made into a book entitled, "The Fishes Wash the Dishes" which will be handed down for generations to come.
