Daughter of the late Bennie "Ben" Coward and Wreatha Mills Coward, she was first married to James Thurman Peaden on August 7, 1942, who died on May 10, 1981. On December 15, 1985, she married Bennie Joseph Anderson who died on July 4, 1995. Additionally, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Coward, Earl Coward and Floyd Coward, and by three sisters, Bertha C. Corbett, Mildred C. Daniel and Martha R. Coward. She was survived by a daughter, RRhonda Roughton; granddaughter, April Sheets (Scott); great-granddaughter, Emma Sheets; sister, Geraldine C. "Geri" Pittman; and an extended family of relatives and friends. Her funeral was held on December 7, 2013, with The Rev. Jimmie Johnson officiating.
