Guss Allison, 98, of Paris, died at 5:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 1997, at Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Allison was born December 17, 1898, in Powderly, a daughter of James Thomas Coward and Mary Etta Miller Coward.

She attended Pee Dee Schools and was a member of the Bounds Baptist Church.

She married Charles Roberson in 1917 and he preceded in death in 1928.

She later married Marvin Claude Allison on August 22, 1936, and he died in 1988.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Burl Roberson in 1918 and J.D. Roberson in 1976; a daughter, Ruth Roberson Daughtrey in 1993; and a sister, Effie Parrott in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Roberson Smyers of Powderly and Imagene Roberson King of Howland; two sons, Charles Wayne Roberson of Duncanville and Vernon Claude 'Buster' Allison of Haltom City; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Daughtrey, Darryl Smyers, Joe Mashburn, Henry Ford, Mike Allison, Billy Upchurch, Anthony Finch, and Ronald Smyers.
