She was born April 26, 1908, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Walter Monroe Craft and Susan Niday Craft. Her husband was the late Wesley Talmadge Chilton. She was a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son, John Wesley Chilton of Salem; five sisters, Bertha Holland and Eva Ward of Montvale, Estelle Hackworth of Roanoke, and Virgie Arrington and Bonnie Forgie of Bedford, and a granddaughter, Karen Michelle Chilton of Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1996, from Montvale Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dewey Page and the Rev. J. Harris Stephens. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
